Flash Fiction

Black Sunset

Skies darken and an orange glow lines the northern horizon. Floodwater swallows the valley, while ash frosts mountainsides of towering ponderosa pines. Can one little girl really save the remaining residents?

Terrified survivors follow the child up a hidden mountain trail as molten lava ravages their town below. The steep winding trail halts abruptly in a high valley where a deserted village awaits the next occupants.
